Superb interview with the marvellous ' Godders ' - this said and given his always telling it like it is and in wording that everyone can easilly understand ( provided they're not some politically correct / wokey dokey - shrinking violet ) - that if he ( Godders ) was ever to pass comment on any of the excellent reports at ' Macleod Finance ' , that like me - he'd rapidly find himself censored & de-platformed for expressing his views in plain english . I have just had 2 x of my replies to the most recent report per - ' BONDS BEYOND BESSENT's CONTROL ' - Hidden for allegedly contravening the rules ..etc..etc - which given that I haven't insulted or been horrible to anyone - somewhat takes the biscuit for massive over-reach and being somewhat non-sensical .....JUST SAYING

Governments (including so called democratic ones) can order the banks to limit withdrawals to whatever they like; for instance at ATMs. This is what happened in Cyprus & Iceland not that many years ago; let alone Argentina.. You talk about a 70 year old woman being stopped buying gold. What about the Icelandic woman who was refused entry by security guards to her bank during their financial crisis in order to access her Yen a/c?! The bank had not gone bust. Her account was basically frozen whether it be in a foreign currency or not.

Apart from this, the lesson from Covid is that governments can do anything in what THEY perceive to be an emergency.

There is no doubt the UK would pass a law making illegal to withdraw your gold from a U.K. vault whether owned by a bank or not!!

Absolutely Harambe.

And in Switzerland, every new gold bar is stamped not just with serial number, but with a QR code. All ownership is now centrally registered. For your safety, of course. And so no more of that awful African conflict gold gets into the country, because there is enough since the 1930s and 1940s. I suspect China will become similar. A banking system that is very very safe, for the banks.

No need for anybody to confiscate gold if they can access it and hypothecate it without the owner's consent - or even their knowledge. Possibly the banks

wouldn't even prevent you coming by to look at your bars, as long as you pay regularly for their safe storage and insurance. No real need for outright confiscation and all that fuss, as computerization will assist all bars being traced.

If you ever remove your bars... well, they'd just need to be melted again and stamped to audit them on return. At your expense. Wouldn't they? How else could they be insurable, or valued for sale?

Well, that's another first for me on Alasdairs Substack. First it was listening to Dominic Frisbey and now it's listening to Godfrey. I've seen him around on the "circuit" but never tuned in. He does speak very fast but I got most of it. I'll probably go back and hive it a second outing but on the whole it was most enjoyable. Especially the Tether stuff. Every days a school day👍

I’ve known Godfrey for twenty years, going back to his days in the European Parliament. He’s as courageous as they come.I admire him immensely.

One question…is buying stable coins through Tether an indirect way to own gold, since its stable coins are at least partially backed by gold?

Tether stablecoins would each be worth exactly one dollar by definition even if backed by gold or by Treasuries. That is the whole point of stablecoins, they are fixed in value to a fiat currency. It's the fiat which isn't fixed to anything.

They can move instantly outside US supervision, and are revealed and tracked through their ledgers. Some of their transactional counterparties may remain hidden.

Tether is in effect a transactional system, rather than just a token of fixed value, that can be redefined and duplicated very easily. Or modified. Just possibly, this acts as a system providing AND creating vast amounts of dollar credit that is promptly hidden away by clever accounting. This seems to me to cause the main controversy around it, because as we know printing money is supposed to be somebody else's business. How would it be if Tether had discovered a new way to do this.

Tether does describe what else it invests in as an organization, as well as gold, and you can read about that online. It seems amply backed, but most interestingly, it is not very up-to-date about its transparency. And as most of its incarnations are not being regulated by anybody, it doesn't seem so obliged. Seems about a year out-of-date.

Agree wholeheateddly with you . ' Godders ' ( like Anne Widdicombe was ) is very much a one off ( sadly ) , and they doubtless broke the mould after he popped out .

He is unflinchlingly courageous , and I like you - admire him for everything he does and says un-reservedly . I rather think that all those ( many ) who don't get Godfrey and take offence at the way he puts things across , probably need a frontal lobotomy or something similar to counter the ' Sense Of Humour Bypass ' that they must al be collectively suffering from .Three Cheers for ' Godders ' -may he remain upright and in good fettle for many years to come .

As regards 'Stablecoins ' and the like , per ' BTC ' & Crypto I've never been able to fully understand the intricacies - hence to this day I've ( rightly or wrongly ) avoided them all like the plague and in fear of the much expected " Computer Say No " answer everytime you want to take control of what you think is yours - that TPTB disapprove of and will invariably lock you out of , and put the mockers on .

' GODDERS ' is the real deal and you're left in no doubt as to the depth of his convictions per anything he's asked to comment on - he makes this abundantly clear in plain english and should be thanked for always nailing his colours to the mast . You always know where you stand as regards ' Godders ' - shame there aren't vastly more out there like him .

Unfortunatley he has accumulated myriad ' Brick Bats ' ( as have a lot of us ) and been rubished as some barking mad old colonel ....just for telling the truth and speaking out everything that our fellow bretheren are doubtless also thinking - but have been brainwashed into holding their tongue's , when if they all had the courage of their convictions , they'd be speaking out in support of the likes of ' Godders ' .

Sadly there are vast number of mealy-mouthed & frightened sheeple out there who will always keep stum for fear of rocking the boat - rather than saying what they truly feel .

This wasn't the first interview with Alasdair - you should find more on Godder's web site .

Best - Simon

OK, thanks Simon. I'll have a look for them. Cheers
