Hi Alasdair I liked your 1 penny for a coffee example I always use the 1901 £1 for a suit shirt shoes and a tie.

I believe you’re based in the UK you keep telling us to get out of credit what about getting out of Uk.

The question why are you not fleeing?

Hi Simon Thank you for your take and agree with your points.

I was interested to see if Alisdair would reply

All - Fair Comment , but if Alasdair's anything like me ( same sort of age - 70 or so ) , I think the answer will be that we're probably a bit too old and knackered to face the thought of completely uprooting lock stock & barrel to try and start afresh in a foreign land .....where of course the locals would quickly view us as foreign & well breached incomers , and where in the event of financial collapse hitting that country as well - ' We ' the moneyed foreigners would be the first to have home visits from tooled up marauding gangs of native's all trying to keep wind and limb together . So in this instance possibly preferable to stay put and keep everything crossed . That said & if I was 20 x years younger , I'd likely take a different view on upping sticks and heading off somewhere ...( But Where Though ..?? )

I did as well! 👍

Bet it was a a “Bun Penny,” a Victorian coin still in circulation in the 1960s. I collected.

Not pure copper.

The Bun was a Young Victoria’s Hairstyle.

Don’t believe anyone in government who claims that he will stop higher prices unless he says he will do it through massive government spending cuts. Nothing else will work.

The long term bond market is about to reveal fifty or more years of massive misallocation of resources by governments into warfare and welfare. The inability of governments to meet their phony promises will cause great distress and probably civil unrest as socialists both in and out of government try to blame “the rich” etc. The people will have to choose between socialist tyranny or free markets, civil liberties, and the rule of law…especially the protection of private property. I’m not sanguine about their likely choice.

All entirely valid - but I fear that when the masses are presented with a choice between opting for Free Markets or rampant Socialism on steroids , that this will be a lifestyle option - plain and simple , and whereby they'll see it as their being fully entitled to suck even harder on the welfare teet and to receive regular ongoing dobs of U.B.I. - but clearly with no idea or regard as to how and where the funds are magiced up from in the first place .
