Me too. It is all well and good to predict an end to fiat currencies, but no one is saying what will follow it. I doubt we will return to metallic money, as much sense as that makes, but some form of exchange has to be taken on board, and relatively quickly.
God knows what will happen when this shit-show finally ends - I suppose it depends entirely on whether the usual suspects & bad actors are still pulling all of the strrimngs , switches & levers of power ...??
I'm not sure how much of a factor this is going to be, but generally when severe economic hardship occurs, societal changes occur with it. The pendulum has swung toward central command and control since WW2, maybe it will swing the other way? I know bitcoin was founded partially on the idea of decentralization, but it is not "corporeal" money. Bottom line that I'm trying to say is that society will change, maybe drastically, in concert with economic changes. And if that happens, "the powers that be" may be replaced or eliminated.
Whether you're in the US / UK / Germany / France / Holland pr any other Western / NATO / Vassal State - I , like you can't see any transition to a new monetary regime' being possible without mass civil unrest / chaos on all fronts , and Civil War far more likely than not . I think populations far and wide are finally and at long last waking up to the fact that for decades / centuries now that they've been living under a neo-feudal / police state level tyranny which has milked them and bled them dry courtesy of an establishment elite whom they've blindly trusted and obeyed from time immemorial .
YES - like you I can't see anyway that ' Society ' will not change - and dramatically so with a fair degree of blood in the streets as the ' Worms ' at long last see the light and turn on those whom for too long have had their jack-boots rammed down on everybody else's collective throat's .
' IF ' there's any justice remaining in this world , then The Powers That Be will be completely eliminate & then replaced with something that bears no resemblance in any form to that which has gone before .
Perhaps it depends on the rapidity of the demise of fiat. The 2007 financial crisis proceeded with speed and the chaos that ensued was only partially absolved by unprecedented infusions of liquidity which shifted losses from banks to taxpayers. To the extent it was successful was dependent upon the trust of the general public in fiat. That trust continues to erode. At this point central banks seem to be leading the way in accumulating precious metals (mainly gold) as a hedge for the coming storm. If (I think it is a question of when) a critical mass of investors and the general public lose all faith in fiat I would be surprised if anything other than gold can be used to replace it. Trust takes a long time to build but it can disappear very quickly.
Thank you Alisdair. It sounds very much as if the crisis is fast approaching. I've heard rumours of a digital currency for Europe. Do you think that is a possibility and, if so, how might it play out?
A particularly thought provoking , insightful and frightening interview per what you've been saying
and we've been taking on board for yonks . The closer the inevitable denouement of the
Bond Markets comes - the ever more twitchy the realisation of what it will bring it makes me .

We will certainly have to reorganize.
Yes. IF they can even do it. I have my doubts. Incredible complexities are involved, I think.

Agree completely.
Perhaps it was also the Saudis who sold some of their bonds.
.........??

Thank you Alasdair.
