Outstanding again. I find it amazing how many interviewers' brains simply can't compute when they run up against your core contention Alasdair. They keep trying to rephrase the question with words to the effect of, "yes, but how are Western governments going to fix this?"

Virtually nobody seems to understand there is no solution to this problem. I get the impression most think we're just in a bad dream from which we can wake up without any consequences at a very human level.

Alternatively people have faith in their governments and a normality bias; "Sure, that debt seems big but they'll be able to do something because they always have. Now where I am going for my next holiday?"

Alasdair "I hope it doesn't happen"

Me - I'm praying for it to happen.

Yes you may be "too far ahead on the curve" even though you are right about the seriousness of the current state of the financial system. Still, I do appreciate your ability to be able to bring through a sense of positiveness amidst all threat of doom.
